Understand the four pillars of mastering anything new.
Pillar #1: You don’t know what you don’t know. Most likely, you have an idea, but that’s all! There’s so much you don’t know of which you aren’t aware. You don’t even realize you need help.
Pillar #2: You know what you don’t know. That’s when you’ve worked on your idea, but it’s not going as perfectly as you’d hoped. You recognize what you don’t know and need to acquire some knowledge and skills. You also realize you need a coach or mentor to help you take control and get on the right track.
Pillar #3: You don’t know what you know. You’ve learned how to do things, and you’re getting some results. You’re making anywhere from 2-10 a month, depending on your company, and you’re beginning to realize you’re pretty good at this. But you haven’t fully grasped the scope and potential of your knowledge. That’s where 99% of the world stops! Why? Because you’re getting results, can quit your job, make an income, and it’s comfortable! That’s why most people get stuck here: comfort.
Pillar #4: You know what you know. This step is where greatness happens—where you fully understand what you’re doing and are 100% confident in your ability. You’ve made the effort to master every aspect of what you do by learning how to perform at your best, which is the difference between the top 1% and the rest. By this point, you barely even have to try because it’s part of who you are; what used to take so much energy to do is now commonplace. Think of it this way: Right now, it may seem impossible to build a multi-million dollar online business, but if you took the wealth away from someone like Jeff Bezos, he probably wouldn’t stress at all—he already knows how to make millions.
So will you!
